Hy
I recently bought a Garmin Quest 2, and concerning the receiver itself, no problem has been detected after driving more than 1000 km.
Problems arised when I wanted to transfer the GPS data to PC. There are four types of data you can transfer.
- Maps
- Waypoints
- Routes
- Targets
The software is the Map Source version 6.9.1, with City Navigator Europe NT + V8.02. Quest 2 has software version 2.40.
When I activate the receive data from GPS, all data is transferred with the exception of Routes.
Selecting only routes, the transfer starts but then when the progress bar reaches 21 % , the GPS switches off by itself and then comes a communication error on the PC, of course.
Maybe there's to much routes on the GPS, there's 13 routes and the memory is 19 % full. I don't think that to be too much, and anyway, all the other data is transferred without any troubles......
Can you give me a hint ? What's going wrong ?
Thank You |

In the system settings in the "External power loss" box select "Stay on" and see if that helps.

Thanks for the hint, I'll let you know the result later
Meanwhile I asked garmin technical support and they told me to upgrade the Quest 2 firmware from 2.40 to 2.60. I don't know if that's a good option as I've seen here someone complaining about Quest 2 freezing with version 2.60, and so far my unit is working very well.... |

It won't hurt to try the upgrade as you can allways revert if it does not help or you have more problems.

Hi, the problem I posted here some days ago is already solved.
The solution was only the formware upgrade from 2.40 to 2.60. After the upgrade I was able to read all routes from the GPS unit without a glitch.
Before the upgrade I tested the EasyGPS sofware and I was getting the same problem, so the problem had to be on the GPS itself.
At the moment both MapSource and EasyGPS are working fin ewith Quest 2
Thank you |
