Ever since I returned from a trip to Portugal my Emtac has not been the same. Before I went I downloaded the Spain/portugal map from TT (waste of time that was but thats another story!). Had to remove UK map from SD card as not enough space for both. Returned and replaced maps again. Only other thing different is that I also downloaded Checkpoint (already have GPSAssist loaded) and started using that. My problem is now the time to get a fix.

Yesterday did Birmingham to Marlow at 10am and as I arrived at the car park in Marlow it got its first fix!!

Same happens when leaving work - arrive home 5 miles later and get a fix as pulling up.

Out of tunnels - used to get a re-fix within a second or two - now a minute or two.

Can anyone think of why this might be happening.

Ipaq 3970, Emtac BT, TTNAV2.24 (GPS 2.8, Checkpoint 2.0.2, SIRF BT com8)

Switch it back to NMEA 4800.

Thanks Dave - Will give it a go - do I take it that Sirf on this set up isn't as reliable as we would hope it is?

Unfortunately there's still alot more to do on SiRF, but TomTom don't appear to be taking this development any further at the moment.

OK, I too went to Portugal this Summer and installed POI-Warner. Now with my setup I am also getting crazily long TTF. It used to take a minute but now it takes 20mins! My setup is ipAQ3970/TT 2/EMTAC CRUX.

In which application and how do I reset the from SIRF back to NMEA?

Thanks
/Mark

I'd very much doubt it's POI-Warner, but use this document http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/winfastnavigatorppc.php to connect to the GPS Receiver and try and get a fix and see how quickly it fixes. If it happens quicker than it may be an issue within TTN2, but I suspect there's something more fundimentally wrong here.

I doubt switching from SiRF to NMEA will make much difference. It will give you a better position on the road in TTN2, but it shouldn't make much difference to the TTFF process.
