I know I can only add 39 extra POI cateogories of my own and these will only display the frist 100 closest to my present position, but is there a limit to how many can be stored to each category? |

Hi Pokle.
I think there must be a limit but it must be way huge.
If you think about it, this sites camera files consist of nearly 8000 cameras spread over 23 POI categories.
Lovely jubbly. :D

Or in the single file version, all in one category! |

That's the type of thing I want to do - I'm not really interested in what sort of camera is ahead! |

Pokle, if you weren't already aware, that's already been done for you with the speed cameras.
There is an all-in-one version as one of the download options. |

Yes, um, well, I was one of the muppets who bought the speed camera thingy off ebay and used 6 of the POIs up! Don't know how up-to date it is but so far I haven't come across any that are not on it I try not to speed anyway but it's a handy reminder just to check |

Just been thinking - is it possible to check any of the [custom] POI contents on the PC? - as I mentioned earlier it will only display the first 100 closest to current position, but if I say, want to delete one of the POIs from a category which is too far afield to be displayed in the list, can this be done easily on PC? Would be so handy to remove (or add) from a full size keyboard and bigger screen! |

It is really only limited by the memory Storage you have, and how long you are prepared to wait while the Device Searches the Category.
Back in the days of the Postcode POI each POI had roughly 240,000 locations. _________________ Richard

That's a fnatastic amount and pleasing to know.
I am currently patiently transposing from a very old map onto TT, the rough positions of all the long laybys with the grass between them and the main carriageway. The Caravan Club produced a map in 83/84 showing these as they thought caravanners would appreciate a more luxurious (and safer) layby in order to stop and brew-up. The map is now falling to pieces and they have not published these since so it is a bit of a mammoth task for me to do and I had a horrible thought that I would be wasting my time if I could only store, say, 250 places!
The other thing I would like to try and compile is a list of public toilets throughout the UK but the information on this is very much more limited but their usefulness beyond measure when in, or on the way to somewhere unfamiliar! |

You may laugh, but the other day I was in an unknown town at around 6.30 on a Sunday morning and reaching Emergency Status! Of course, that early on a Sunday there was not a soul about to ask! |

If the OV2 files are compiled through MakeOV2 there is no limit on the number of POI (apart, as Oldboy mentioned, disk space), and the performance will be acceptable as well since MakeOV2 adds indexing.
You could have all the toilets of the world in one PeeOI file and still find them quickly _________________ Lutz
