Hello there, I have a Yakumo Delta X running TT5 which works fine most of the time but when I come to restart my device after a stop I find that it takes an age for a gps signal to be detected, this can take up to 30mins, and sometimes not at all without a soft reset, which is hopeless when driving around a city with multiple destinations. Any help with this problem will be appreciated or if the subject has been covered before I apologise (I'm new to this) perhaps someone will point me in the right direction. Also what is "baud rate" and will I ever need to adjust?
Thanks
Ruby

Hi Ruby

I have a yakumo delta X pda running tom tom 5.2 which I have had for about 12 months. The setting you need are found in configure window and select : -
other NMEA GPS
Baud Rate = 4800
Native GPS

I have never changed the baud rate and it has worked ok for me since I have had it. If you have had tom tom running and turn it off and restart it for your homeward trip I have forund it better to sit in the car stationary till you have a sat fix before moving off

If you need any other info feel free to contact me?

Hi gohst181,
Thanks for the reply, you dont say how long you wait before you set off on a return journey, I feel that it takes my unit too long to lock onto a signal, I wonder if other similar units perform any better ie mitac, acer etc.
I also would like to know if there are any tricks I should be trying to improve matters.

Regards
Ruby

Hi Ruby

When I have restarted my sat nav on the return leg home it use to take around 5 mins dependent were I was at the time and the sat positions. I have noticed that since I have purchased a new 250Mb high speed card and a 1Gb card it seems to lock on to the sats quicker and as i write this I have stood out side in the drive of my house and it took about 1 min to get a lock. I am sure some one might comment on this being nothing to do with the lock on time but it has seamed to work for me.

Also you could Try to select the configure screen and go through the configure process and see if it locks on any quicker its worth a try.

I purchased a 1Gb card from crucial.com so I can use the pda to lisen to music and the lock on time as still around 1 min I am not advercating you purchase a card from curcial but any high speed card would do just as good and ther are plenty selling them on the net.

One other thing you could try is to stand out side of you car and see if you get a lock on quicker just in case you windowscree is limiting the signel to the pda gps unit.

Hope this is of some help as always feel free to as again

regards

Ghost
