http://uk.news.yahoo.com/05042006/344/sat-nav-drivers-close-edge.html

quote: Drivers following the instructions of their satellite navigation systems to a village called Crackpot are being directed to the top of a 100ft cliff, it was reported.

The glitch means motorists are being sent along an unclassified track on the edge of a sheer cliff edge.

I think the road concerned is the one marked here http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?local=h&scale=25000&title=Crackpot&lon=-2.05718832873298&lat=54.3508865719281&icon=x

When I ask TomTom to take me from Askrigg to Crackpot it takes me down that road, which on the map is 'unsuitable for motor vehicles'

And there is a locked gate at the far end of the track, beyond Summer Lodge .

I got sent that way last year, and it took three goes at travelling further down the Richmond road before TT3 finally accepted that I really didn't want to go that way ;-)

LoL its not that bad compared to MS autoroute taking you through europe to get north of the country you are in. Cannot remember the country think it was Sweeden or somting but from going south to north it took you via 5 countries.
