That's a very good price, Origin list it at £429.95. Are you sure they are not quoting on the Origin Bluei?

To Dave and Darren: Road Angel verses B2.

Now Dave and Darren have been using them for a number of weeks since the last posting have there views changed or do you have any more pros and cons relating to them?

Any information would be useful.

I still highly rate the b2 and it would be mine over any of the others we have tested to date. Mindo you I will shortly have an opportunity to test the Snooper S4 & S6 units and it might all change then Confused

Thanks for the reply.

If Dave also has time I would welcome his latest views on the Road Angel. If it does the basic identification and sensing to the same degree of accuracy as the b2 then the overriding factor for me is transferability from one vehicle to another. For me it is like our washing machine, it may have many features however we only use two programmes. I agree some of the extra features of the b2 are very good but does one use them after the novelty has worn off? Regarding the Snooper mentioned, Iíve heard it is best left in one car and moving it to another is not that easy. Your review will be interesting

The Origin B2 has a car cradle, whereas the Snooper needs you to plug all the cables in each time you want to move it from car to car (or even take it out to stop it being stolen). As such, that's another plus for the B2 - hide all the wires and then sit the unit into the cradle, and it's as easy to remove too.

So, the only pros of the Snooper are built in radar and laser detection (B2 radar support soon), which is also weatherproof and can be mounted behind the grill, whereas the B2 supports GPS out, and has a car cradle.

One suggestion for anyone considering these two models - both manufacturers publish the manual which can be downloaded to see how (in detail) the units work and are wired together.

I honestly wouldn't rate any of the features of the b2 as gimmicks or unnecesary extras except perhaps for the GPS out facility, you either need that or you don't.

It' a valid point about portability though. The Snoper S4 which we are awaiting is a one box unit inclusing laser detection that can be moved from car to car easily unlike the S6 which is similar to the b2 in being designed for permanent or semi-permanent installation.

At the end of the day the overriding factor of all these units is the accuracy of the database, the best in these respects have been the Cyclops and b2 but time will tell if they maintain this position.

Yeah, I thought that would be useful for me, but now I'm thinking that by the time I add a SatNav system to the car, I will want a combined GPS/TMC unit, which the B2 is never going to provide.

Out of interest, how many handheld units / mobile cameras / devices capable of catching us speeding are radar based??

I know originally a lot of devices were radar based, but how many non-fixed gatso are radar nowadays - I guess if police traffic cars still have handheld cameras, they will be radar.

ie what real difference does having / not having a radar detector really make.

steve: I'd be interested to know too. I could do without spending the £100-odd on the detector if it isn't deemed that useful...
