Typing symbols into the "Find ... POI" screen

The "Add as POI ... Name" screen allows accented characters and symbols to be entered. I often include * symbols to attribute a star rating to a POI. In TTN3 on an Ipaq it was possible to search for POIs by their star rating, however I can't see how to do this on the TomTom ONE. The keyboard that pops up in the "Find ... POI" and "Find nearby POI" screens only seem to permit the input of alphanumeric characters plus the full-stop and hyphen. How can I type in * or other symbols?

Incidentally, once I have popped up the keyboard in this screen, how do I get rid of it? With the keyboard showing I can only see 2 rows of data. I know there is a smaller keyboard option, but that's no good to me because the keys are too small and anyway only 3 rows of data are shown.

Sorry, I should have checked earlier but now see that the keys on the small keyboard are no smaller than on the large ... the only difference seems to be the omission of the row of numerals. However, my point stands that 3 rows of data are scarcely better than 2. It would nice to be able to hide the keyboard when I've finished typing.
