Hi all,
I have a Quest1, Quest motorcycle mount (wired to battery), MP3 player and Starcom Advance intercom (wired to battery). My problem is that I can set it all up perfectly when the bike is stationary and the engine isn't running, but, when I start the engine I am get a lot of alternator whine which is making using it annoying and unusable. If I turn the master volume down on the Starcom (just up from minimum) and turn the volume up on the MP3 player the noise isn't so bad but the Quest voice instructions become too faint at reasonable motorway cruising speeds. Does anybody have any ideas of what I can do to suppress this alternator whine?

I have wrapped the wires with silver foil and taped them up where they pass close to the HT circuit, this seems to have cut the interference from that.

Gazz (New to all this technology :-))

It seems the SUPPRESSOR on your alternator has become defective or maybe the wire has come off or broken.

Google (images) alternator, and read one or more of the sites.

I would think this is the same on my autocom if you have your gps running from the battery you need a suppressor unit . On the autocom its a red/grey/black little box . I am sure Starcom must do one as its the sort of interference you will get with anything.

Hope this helps
