I have a friend from America paying me a visit soon and was wondering if the Garmin GTM 11, FM TMC Traffic Receiver would work correctly in the UK? (I'd prefer the GTM 11 rather than a GTM 10 for ease of fitting)

I think if the GTM11 was brought in the US it comes with subscription to the traffic services in the US.
In order to work in the UK you would have to subscribe to the service here.
I think you can do that via the Garmin web page, but I think the cost would negate any saving you had by buying via the US.

GTM11 RRP on Garmin website $214
UK TM Service for US GTM11 $60
Total $274, so let's say £160
UK cost £195
On that basis it looks better value, however, you should pay import duty and VAT on arrival in the UK, which will negate the small saving you will make. |

Is the GTM 11 now available in the UK? The reason I ask is I noticed the thread from brummygit and he mentioned he bought a GTM 11 in the UK.
I like the idea of the GTM 11, it's more plug and play as it doesn't need to be hard-wired to the in-car radio system. |

GPSW list both the GTM10 and the GTM11 - they have stock of the GTM11, but have not yet got stock of the GTM10.
Other European companies have stocks of the GTM10, but if bought outside of the UK, it is unlikely to have the lifetime Trafficmaster subscription (although this can be separately purchased from Garmin).[/url] |

Yes, I have a GTM 11 so they are available in the UK.
I'm looking at connecting mine to my car antenna as the signal isn't very reliable so I would think carefully before deciding. Saying that my car has a heated windscreen which doesn't help. |
