Sad I have tried to plan my first itinerary which i have done using waypoints and destination points, and chosen my route the way i want to travel A roads and some Motorways etc,all is well till i press start navigation then the next box says please select a route type fastest route, shortest route etc, then select done, this is where it plans a route for but has not done the route i have planned it does a different route altogether, please can you help its driving me mad, or tell me if iam doing it wrong. Why does it ask me for fastest route shortest route etc if i have already told it the route i wish yo take?

If you have chosen "town centres" as waypoints the TomTom is unreliable. It seems to assume that anywhere within 5 miles is near enough. Make sure that you choose the waypoints as a point on map. Also zoom in close to make sure that you have chosen the point on the correct side of a dual carriageway.

It will still ask for fastest and slowest because there will still be a choice of routes between the points you have chosen.

Add more waypoints until it follows the route that you want

Did you use Navigate to .... or did you go into Itinerary and choose Yes to Navigate to Destination, when you exited the Itinerary Menu?

Just a thought. How different is it to your Itinerary?

If it's the first part of the route, it's because TT will route from your current position (if you have a Sat. Fix), or your last known position (where you turned it off with a Sat. Fix).

Bit stumped then, never seen "Start Navigation" Confused

If I go to "Itinerary Planning" and make my itinerary so it looks like this:
Quote:

V "My home"
V

V "Waypoint 1"
V

V "Waypoint 2"
V

# "My Destination"

(where the V s are yellow arrows and the # is the chequered flag, and "My home" "Waypoint 1+2" and "My Destination" are real place names)

I then press "Done", and I get a blue screen that says:
Quote:
"The first destination is "My Destination". Navigate there now? YES or NO.

Pressing "YES" I'm then asked to choose "fastest" shortest" etc as usual (whether you get that stage depends on how your "planning preferences" are configured) then I press "Done" again.

It then calculates the route as normal and by pressing "Route" I can check it by "Browse as text/images/map etc" to show that it does indeed go through all the waypoints.

Thanks Andy, my list is the same as you showed, then on the tomtom cd it says now select navigate to which i think is the same as selecting done, which then puts the screen navigate to destination yes or no i then select yes, then it pops up fastest route etc which i then select,it then gives me a different route altogether. This is the only problem i have with it all the other features work fine

I think this must all come down to how you are entering the data....
I just tried to do something like your route, and on my Go300 with maps v562 I can't find any of the M52, M56, M6, etc by searching via "address" (a real irritation I find).
The only way I could do it was to use "point on map" and scroll about until I could mark a point actually on the motorway carriageway (very laborious).

So how are you finding and entering these places? I'd love to know an easier way!

Anyway, having done it like that, I now had 6 entries:
M53 Md Wirral Motorway, M56, M6, A5, M1, Luton (done from "city Centre").

Selecting "fastest route" gave me an itinerary of (I wish I knew how to do screen shots):
M53, M56, M6, M6 TOLL, M6, A426, A5, A428, M1, A505, Luton.

So its doing what I ask, but then I've given it very specific instructions!

Hiya iam starting off by putting in Wirral then m53 midwirral comes up j2,then to get to m56 m6 i put in Cheshire first then m56,m6, i must admit they could have made this a bit easier to pick out motorways when i chose M1 it always comes up Manchester M1 thats all, back to the drawing board i think,i still can't find out with all my waypoints in the list that it won't follow that route Crying or Very sad

Mine accepts "Wirral" in the "Address" page, but not "Cheshire" Confused

How about go to the itinerary planning list, tap on one of the waypoints, then tap on "Show on map" on the next page, and see if that sheds any light.
