Compaq INS - demystifying a package solution....

Hi

I've been browsing the site and think I now understand my situation. Can someone confirm my understanding, please?

Background - I have an IPAQ 3950 which I bought some time ago along with INS 1.2. I am not happy with the mapping software and want to upgrade.

From my understanding (from looking at the kit):

INS 1.2 comprises a NAVMAN Jacket and 128Mb CF Card (hardware)
Pocket Copilot 3.15/UKI (software)

Getting more into what I understand from research...

The NAVMAN Jacket is a 3000 series jacket
to work with other applications needs a serial driver downloaded from NAVMAN
Once I have this driver I simply install it onto the IPAQ and can then pick and choose from the many software packages around, including Tom Tom, SmartSt or others.

Is this an oversimplification or I missed something somewhere?

Can I delete the stuff on the CF card and copy the new application and maps there or do I have to use my onboard SD card?

Comments/Clarifications/advice on the best package to work with the jacket gratefully received.

The jacket is not the newest kid on the block but since you have it already why not use it.
