I loaded this this morning and immediately noticed the following:

Defaults to US English you have to enable languade selection on start up and select UK English to fis this.

Much Faster search for Area and POI's than before.

I hope you are right, but I fail to see how changing your language selection can speed up searches/navigation. I have the iCN510 and only have the choice of a UK Male or UK Female Wink

Hi Ge Pe
If you go to the Navman FAQ & look for how to reset SD card. When you have done it it will be in full European mode. You get the flag page appear on start up and all the European languagers.
One word of warning back up your card before doing so as EVERY THING on the card will be lost. It dose work as I have done it at least twice (before & after) the 3.5 upgrade.
Regards

Thanks for the info, DRP. Are there any other advantages in resetting the SD card Question See my views below in my profile about messing with something that works Ok at the moment. Wink I know that the two voices that guide me at the moment are somewhat limited but I get on well with the Male one - the female lisps a bit. Thanks again...

So is the SP1 update worth doing now ? is it just the voices that change or does it give you the option choose a language on reboot to set as your default language? I agree with GE PEE pholosophy but would like to improve without unnessary stress.

Apparently it fixes the previous inability to turn individual Custom POIs on and off. Pre SP1, you could deselect a Custom POI but it would still appear on the screen, IIRC.

Thanks for clarification, Tim. I presume we are referring to SP1 for iCN520 and that, that update is different to the SP1 for iCN 510 Question

I think the update is the same. It is for the 510/520 running SmartST2005. It is not for V3.

Does anyone have a list as to what this SP is supposed to solve? Normally Navman have it listed somewhere but I can't see it on the website.

Hi Tim.

It certainly hasn't fixed the problem with my POI's, (only able to get first 16 active) after being told by Navman techies that I will be able to have all 25 active, as stated on p.89 of the handbook. Sad

CJ.

I guess that Navman are going to get some negative feedback on this SP, then.

Hi Ceejay:

The language change obviously does not speed up the search but the Service Pack appears to. By the way the roundabout issue complained about is also still there.

My understanding from Navman Tech support a while back was that this would also fix the Assert errors and lock ups I and others have seen. Only time will show if that is true.

Hi all
I think I have missed the point of this thread. Tim said that it is only for 2005 and not V3.
I have been to Navman UK & followed the free download link & inputted the information for the 510 with either 2005 or V3, you will get 2 different files to download for SP1.
Somewhat confused.

General Improvements and Enhancements:
1) Occasional 'Assert failure' messages –
"Assert Failure: V1_17_0030\Mapcore\src\mapdata\ENMfile.c
line 186 Test OSexit Call”
An occasional ‘Assert failure’ prompt, experienced when inserting an SD card or when ejecting an SD card when map data is loading on the device have been resolved. A similar, occasional, assert message experienced when driving has also been eliminated.

2) Saving POI changes when using a European language – For users of an iCN 520 device installed with a European language full functionality of the POI facility has been implemented. Within the POI menu ‘All POI’s’ can be switched on/off; single POI categories can be switched on/off individually.

3) Cancellation of ‘Instruction List’ – When users cancel a route that has many pages of turn instructions, the instruction list is completely cleared. When a new route is chosen, page counter & newly calculated instructions are correctly displayed within the instruction list.

4) General Translation errors – where required, general European translations have been implemented.

I think SP1 for V3 has been out for some time; this latest one is SP1 for SmartST2005.
