Vista Cx hanging on welcome screen.

My one week old Vista Cx now hangs at the welcome screen when powered up.

The following procedure brings it to life:
1. Press power/backlight button to bring up backlight slider;
2. Press menu key to bring up an empty menu;
3. Press menu key again to arrive at Main Menu;
4. Select satellite page and satellite aquisition begins.

The above is not ideal. Is there a better fix?

I had the same problem and used Google to find the solution.

1. Go to Garmin's web site for the Vista Cx http://www.garmin.com/products/etrexVistacx/

2. Click on 'Updates & Downloads' on the left side.

3. Click the 'download' link for the version 2.30 software.

4. Click the 'I agree to the above...' link

5. Download and install the version 2.30 software to your Vista Cx

You will see that one of the issues fixed is:

Fix potential lockup on Welcome screen when the track log has been turned off and cleared and then the unit is powered off and back on.
