And 5/8" is roughly 15.9mm Crying or Very sad

At least you're right about your maths being terrible... Laughing

If people were after this 17mm ball, as a standard part, what would you expect it to have?

An internal thread in one end?
An external thread at one end?

Something else?

If enough people want some standard thing that they can attach in their own way, then I could knock out a load of them for a lot less than the full ebay mount?

Either:

- M6 tapped blind hole, or;

- M6 clearance hole rebated for a cap head bolt;

in black Nylon66 please... :D

Mr Gonzales,

Please let us know how you get on making the mount. A 17mm ball on a suitable pillar with an internal screw would do fine - actually anything would do fine.........

There must be plenty of other cars with curved windscreens. My Audi A3 is another example. Why Garmin couldn't just fit a slightly larger, and more convetionally moulded suction mount on the i3 is beyond me! Anyone had any luck swaping out the suction mount itself, and leaving the plastic ball in situ?

Here goes - 6mm thread in the back. Only downside is there's a small flat on the other side, also about 6mm diameter. Shouldn't interfere with the socket on the i3 but I'll try it on mine this weekend.

The threaded end:

The end with the flat on:

With a screw in it:

Mr Gonzales

I would like to buy 1 (or maybe 2) if you can let me know the price. I think you may need to start to a 'production line'.

Wink

Yes, it's plastic - it's delrin or high density polyethylene (less slippery than nylon).

I'll have a think on prices - no point making it expensive as people still have to do more work to get it to work on a mount. Postage hassles will add a chunk but I'm looking at something like £3 for one and £5 for two, postage and packing included. Sound good?
