Hi, I nearly have TTN5 working but after deleting navigator.cfg it always returns (see below), any ideas?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Matt

Hi guys

This does not work.

When I first installed the software I had no problem activating it - activation is not the problem. I have also correctly done a hard reset (and see the alignment screen) several times.

When the software is first installed there is no navigator.cfg file. After first running the program the navigator.cfg file is created after choosing all the settings such as right handed, voice and GPS type - the program is still working perfectly at this point. After closing the program (TTN5) and opening again the program immediately goes to the "legal notice" screen - I press agree and the program closes and navigator.cfg has been created again... If I delete the navigator.cfg file again it just repeats the above - allows me to set my preferences, allows the program to work but after closing and re-opening the program again the 'legal' screen appears and the program closes after I press 'I agree'.

A hard reset does not cure the problem - how do I stop the navigator.cfg file from re-appearing

I really like the PDA and do not want to return it but I was assured that it can be made to work when I spoke to various sales staff yesterday.

Please advise,

Thanks for your time

Matt

Hi Matt,

Please hard reset MioA201 and reinstall the Navigator 5. Here is the procedure on hard reset the MioA201 :

1>Remove the battery
2>Put the little switch under the batter into OFF and then put it back
2>to ON
3>Hold the RECORD button at the side of the unit and at the same time
3>put the battery back into slot.

Now the unit should restart and will directly go to alignment screen.

Kind Regards

Ying Tuckerman

From your post it looks as if you are deleting the .cfg file in the Map Folder.

TT uses the .cfg file to hold your preferences, favourites, and warning settings. It also holds the Recenet Destination.

It is a file that TT uses all the time. It uses it during normal Navigation. If you delete it TT will re-create another with default values.

You should be looking at what might be in Your Device\Program Files\Navigator Folder.

Hi Richard

Thank you for replying so quickly

Unfortunately not the fix. I am looking at Device\Program Files\Navigator Folder.

There are 3 files in the folder data.chk, navigator.cfg and TomTom Navigator (wih red hands).

The navigator.cfg will not stay deleted?

Best regards

Matt

Exactly same problem
in my case after selection of voice the programme closes
and Navigatio.cfg file is created in the prog/navigaor folder.
after deleting it it will come back after going through the starting proceadure again
any help will be appreciated as 201 looks great otherwise

Finally got this sorted. The PDA was bought from Global Positiong Systems but not the software.

The tech support guys gave me various options by email but unfortunately it did not help - I also have tried every option that I could find on this and other forums but had no joy.

After describing the returning navigator.cfg file to the tech support guys, they emailed back saying "From what you are saying the cfg method is not going to work with your unit. What we can do is take the unit back and install it for you. Please get back to me." I just sent back the PDA along with my TTN5 codes and the unit was back with me (working) in three days - top service from Global Positiong Systems!!!
