Can anyone tell me why my Quest constantly loses satelite reception??? This happens about every couple of minutes. The unit is never obscured. Confused

It looks like your car ha a metalized windscreen... when reception is bad, any glitch can get it out of reception fast.

XJR, Had this exact problem when using my Quest in the wifey's new Golf.
Signal comes and goes, and the Quest nearly went out the window!!

Brought external Garmin aerial and mounted on inside of windscreen - no more problems now. Always worked fine in my old van.

There are some cheap ones available on fleabay, but the Garmin one is not too badly priced.

It's most likely your (heat reflecting or "athermic") windscreen causing this.

What sort of car is it?

Hi Guys, I was using an old Vauxhaull Astra the other night. Used the same car to drive down to London the next day and my Quest performed faultlessly again!!!!
Dunno what the problem was but it seems ok now.
Thanks for your replies.
Willie.

Maybe it was just that you didn't have a good satellite fix from cold and it was trying to locate new sats all the time.

Next time it does it, go to Menu-Menu-GPS Info and have a look and see how many sats you have locked. If some of them are still in the process of being locked on to (hollow bars) then stop and wait until they lock then drive off. If you are driving around with sats which aren't locked on then the poor old Quest has a difficult time getting a first fix on them.

Good luck!
