|
|
Hi there,
firstly I have tried searching on here and google etc for an answer to this post. apologies if its an obious question.
Right here goes. I am using TTN5 on Windows Mobile 5. I have a large excel file (a few hundred entries) which contains easting/northing, name and description. I would like to convert this info into the correct format - which is ov2 and bmp.
I have tried several downloads from this site also....... it's probably user error....
anyway can someone point me in the right direction.....
thanks again
Rob

Format your excel file to First Column:Longitude; Second Column: Latitude; Third Column: Name.
Save the file as a CSV file
Have a look at it in Wordpad (If it is a big file Notepad can't cope).
It should look like this:
; Longitude, Latitude, "Name"
; ========== ============ ===========
-2.14427 , 57.17237 , "Aberdeen"
-3.22176 , 55.94278 , "Edinburgh"
Ignore the first two lines of the example they are just for comment.
When you are convinced that it looks like this then save it and rename the extension to asc (ie change myfile.csv to myfile.asc)
Download makeov2.exe from TomTom; here:
http://www.tomtom.com/support/ce/support/ov2/ov2tools.zip
When you have unzipped these, drag and drop your asc file into makeov2.exe. It will create a file of the same name as the one you dropped in with an ov2 extension.
Can't remember whether or not it creates a bitmap but TT will create a default one if you don't put one in. Alternatively you can create your own.
Hope this helps. |

Notepad can open a file in excess of 10MB. That's usually about 300,000 locations.
How big is BIG? _________________ Richard
