TomTom ONE workaround for setting an Itinerary Start point

On a different part of the PGPSW forums we've seen mention of a workaround that enables TTN5 users to set a Start point when creating an Itinerary. Since the workaround involves switching off the GPS, it does not seem to work with the TomTom ONE since, so far as we know, the GPS cannot be turned off.

Does anyone know of a workaround that does work on a TomTom ONE?

The only way you would be able to achieve that is to find a place indoors where it can't get a sat fix.

Is this the only disadvantage of a SiRF III?
