Santa got me a Tom Tom One for Xmas! Upgraded to latest software after I had to delete a voice. Seems to work ok now after reseting, but as I had to make room for the software upgrade am I going to need a bigger card to fit the camera POI? What size comes as std and what size should I get?

Mine came with a 128meg card - I bought a Kingston 256meg from ebuyer (about £14 or so with carriage), copied onto that and put the original away as a safe backup.

128 is usually standard if your only staying in the uk then 256mb sd card should do it if you want to go abroad then some like a 512 or a 1gb card

I still have the original 128 card with the latest firware...and the pocketgps camera POIs all loaded, so you shouldn't have a problem fitting it all on!

Guys
Thanks for the info, I down loaded the camera POI to see if they fit and they do! As it's boxing day and I have a had a couple of beers so I persuaded the good lady to drive me to the local speed camera to test!! It works!! :D But to confirm, you still think its a good idea to copy to another larger SD card and keep the origional as a back up?

Firstly, you should have a backup on your hard drive by now! Wink If you haven't, do one quickly!

If you're going to add some SDK apps to the card, more voices, lots more POIs etc etc then get a bigger card - it won't do any harm! And they're cheap enough now too. And your TomTom needs a bit of free space for some operations too - so it's probably safer to go bigger!

Thanks TT300 owner, I have backed up on my pc hard drive. I guess if my SD card fails I simply get a new card drag every thing over to it?

That's right... keep the backup safe - it's not on the CD that came with your TomTom. If your card should ever fail, yes - just copy the files to the new card and you're up and running again! :D

Worthwhile going for the bigger card - the supplied apps/maps are a tight squeeze on 128meg, and you'll no doubt find that any later release of the app will require a bit more space (leaving aside the POIs etc that you'll want to put on). I'm not saying that they won't fit, it's just going to be a bit tight.

Until recently, the original card was big enough to fit all the camera files plus a few others, and update the software, so long as you removed a few foreign voices.
What seems to have changed now is that people are finding that there is not quite enough space to update the software - the new software fits, but the actual update process seems to need more room while it is working.

I have tried a 512Mb card. All runs OK but still cannot get all POI's on my ONE. Any ideas? I seem to be limited to about 50 in addition to the standard ones.

Yes the there is a poi limit. With the Go it's 39 if I remember right so i'm guessing the One will be the same?
