Tom Tom Bluetooth GPS - delayed valid GPS signal

Hello All

Can anyone help with this annoying problem?

My bluetooth TomTom GPS has started taking about 5 - 10 mins on the road for the GPS to know where I am. Right now I'm receiving 9 satellites (low grade) but the GPS screen either says 'no valid GPS signal' or 'No GPS device!'. (The timer is now on 1 hr 57 minutes and it still doesn't know where I am - I'm at home but it should still know where I am and the GPS has worked inside before.) In the GPS status screen the blue and yellow circle is spinning. It also loses its active connection in Bluetooth Manager. If I reconnect it in Bluetooth Manager it goes into outgoing connections - with only one red box so not strong - but drops straight out again after a minute or two and drops out when I close the screen.
Does anyone have any ideas about how to solve this problem or should I send the GPS back to Tom Tom as faulty?
I have the latest version of TomTom 5 on an HP iPAQ HX2110.
