hi newbie here, have a question and would be grateful for any help, got a tomtom one but live in southern ireland so no map(even though argos sell it here). is there any teleatlas/compatable maps available preferably on sd card suitable(i know coverage still isnt great) but it would be nice to have something to look at instead of a blank screen, instead of waiting for my annual trip to ikea warrington
tried searching, no luck though , thanks in advance

Mapping of Ireland is pretty bad unfortunately.
You could trade your TomTom (with TeleAtlas maps) for a Garmin unit (with Navteq maps) which might be better.
Navteq only have the M, N and R roads and street level mapping for Dublin, Waterford, Galway, Cork and Limerick (and maybe some others). Have a look at the map coverage at http://www.garmin.com/cartography/ontheRoad/ and see if it's any good for where you live. (I don't think there is much difference in the v7 to v8 maps)
Not much help, I'm afraid. Good luck! _________________ Gone fishing! |

I can only sugguest myself that Copilot 6 could be the answer. It too uses Navteq maps. Its not 100% complete yet, but it probably will be this time next year. It currently stands at 39% (so Im told by info on other websites). It only has major cities down to street level and then as said above M, N and R roads. Navteq has the best coverage of Southern Ireland at the moment. If you can get something for your device that uses Q3 2005 version of Navteq maps, that would be the best you could hope for at the moment.
I only talk about Copilot 6 as thats the only one I've used. Plus mapping will be completed at the end of this month, so I assume that full coverage will following in Copilot 7 for October 2006. Hope this helps!!! |

You should read the CoPilot forum about the routing/crashing problems with CP5 before you buy CP6. The way they treated us CP5 customers was shameful and no fixes were forthcoming after a year. They promised traffic integration about 18 months ago but it still isn't here.
Then they release CP6 with fixes which should have been released as a patch for CP5.
I brought a Garmin because CP5 was so bad, other people seem to get on OK with it. _________________ Gone fishing! |
