Leadtek struggles to lock onto a signal - very unrelaible!

I have a Leadtek GPS mouse (9813).

This unit is driving me mad – sometimes it seems to lock onto a signal (when light changes from solid green to flashing green) in 30 seconds, other times it can take 20 minutes or even longer. I cannot rely on this thing & it is only a few weeks old.

I am using it with TT5 & a Toshiba PDA (PPC 2002).

Has anyone had similar experiences with this or other units & do you have any idea what can be causing this?
Is it “normal” for it to be so unreliable & temperamental or do you think it is a faulty unit?
