The trouble with that bit, is that it seems to be made up of different bits, that are variably composed together (ie arriving at destination on right). |

would be great if you can crack any .vpm file. |

Well, why couldnt you rename the .vpm you want to unpack ie American_Engish.vpm to English_Britsish.vpm unpack it, modify it then repack it, then finally rename it back to its original file name !? which would be American_English.vpm in this example

When i try to unpack "...spanish...".vpm in mode "English_Britsish.vpm" the programm create only files with 0byte.

The reason it only looks for English_British.vpm is because it only works for English_British.vpm |

well ... i have just copied American_Engilsh_.vpm off my garmin i3
i renamed it to English_British_.vpm run the splitter program and it has worked fine ! i suggest you look at the file names carfully making sure you have copied the original filename correctly for it to work.
If have just tried it for Deutsch__.vpm and it splits that fine .. its quite funny listening to each of the split files in a differnt language.
let me know if you have anymore troubles !

I bow down before your clearly superior knowledge of my own code
For anything other than English_British.vpm - the ToC and first sample will be corrupted. But I guess you spotted that. You probably even knew that it won't recombine properly, either.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MODIFY/UPLOAD ANYTHING OTHER THAN ENGLISH_BRITISH.VPM

OK we know that.
When can we expect your nice tool to process French.vpm as well ?

Hi to all.
Tried your utility on the English_British.vpm file and all worked fine. :D
Now on my wishlist I would like to unpack the English_British_Daniel.vpm.
(The TTS One). I only want to shut up that recalculating instruction. It gets on my nerves.
I got used to TT where it just recalculated in the background and didn't say a word.
Have to say though, great work so far.

The problem with that is how to get access to this files as data.
On the original I3s, this stuff is on the transflash card - so get a reader / writer, plug the card in, and do what you like.
With the newer I3s with the maps and data on internal memory - how to get access to this data, as the USB drivers don't appear to provide access as a MSD / MSC type device, only access via Garmin's applications. |
