I didnt have a transflash when I bought it so had to buy my own. So , obviously I dont have English_British.vpm anywhere. Is it possible to still change voice files if I can get English_British.vpm, modify it and put it onto tflash ?
p.s: If someoen could upload English_British.vpm then that ould be great ! Thanks ! |

That would also be illegally distributing copyrighted material |

i have the NUVI with other .vpm files and was wondering if your voice utility program can be made to unpack those. i followed the manual and only worked for english_british.vpm
would be great if you can crack any .vpm file. |

quick question ash, i have unpacked the vpm file as i wanted to change the initial 'bonging' to something like 'camera' however, which do i change?!
i want the initial bong bong but can't decided if it's 'bong bong' or 'bing bing' that i need to edit! the single overspeed 'bong'/'bing' i want to keep.
anyone know the difference between the bing and the bong and when they are used?!
there also seems to be a lot of stuff that's not used like 'seaching for satellites' and 'north', 'south etc etc... wonder if they just use a standard voice file for all units even if they don't use all the words?

Bong bong for approach warning 8)

Can't say I've thought about it that hard - the "Bong bong" sometimes (from memory) gets used to prefix phrases, but switching off "Attendance tone" fixes that.

My thoughts exactly ;) |

You want Bong bong! Trust me on that.
And can I just repeat a request I made earlier in the thread - for those customising their voice files, it may be of interest to others interested, to post what actual bits people have changed - more from an idea perspective.
I'll continue with my ball rolling by repeating what I posted previously, I changed Bong bong to "Aye Carumba!" by Bart, and Recalculating to "D'oh" by Homer. |

Im currentley working on a few voice files ... which at times gets a little bit tedious, the first one is a simsons file where i am cutting and slicing snippets from programs to get or trying to get all of the listed orignal wordings ..
the second is opollo 13 .. where recalculating becomes " houston we have have a problem"
cutting and slicing to get the files is relitivley easy, the boring part is watching the films/programes to find the words and phrases to co-incide with the original one!
Once completed i will host it on a site for all to download - regardless of copyright infringment which i know comes into effect when you in-effect are stealing words and catchphrases from copyrighted material.

I forgot to mention, I quite fancy the houston mission control one, we have a problem for re-calculating and maybe, the eagle has landed when you reach your destination. I should imagine that the voice files for those should`nt be difficult to obtain.
Can I put it on my shopping list please.
