Navigator 5 is it the same map for all

Really good forum but i am still a bit stuck. I rushed out and bought a Advent GPS 400 which has navigon navigator 5 installed on my machine. I have noticed Tom Toms have nav 5 on there machines is that the same or not ?, eg can Tom Tom stuff be used on my machine and where would i get upgrades as the instructions dont give you a clue!
