Just had my car MOTed and had to remove my cradle because it was deemed to be in the normal viewing area and was larger than 40mm! Has anyone encountered such a problem and are a lot of us driving around with illegally sited cradles? 8O

Hi hawkeye,

If you use a windscreen mount then it’s best to remove the mount and clean the screen so that there’s no mark on the windscreen, when you send you car for an MOT. My local garage even removed my radar detector windscreen mount (and cleaned the marks) so that the MOT station didn’t find that as a fault.

An MOT station could technically fail your car for having a windscreen mount in the wrong place. Also a traffic policeman might want to have words if he (or she) was of the opinion that the mount was obscuring your vision.

Don’t forget to keep all airbag devices clear as well! Thumbs Up

Regards,
