Problems with 'next road' indicator

From two 1000+ trips in the past month it appears there are a few problems with this indication, which could be really useful but falls over due to a couple of bugs, which I can't remember for certain but I don't believe were in TomTom3.

1. Sliproads, On dual carriageways or motorways it would be sensible for the 'next road' to be the one you take after you have exited the motorway. It's important because the road name will be printed on signs so you can use this to confirm which way you are headed. Especially important for positioning on slip roads.

Instead it just gives the name of the road you are currently on, because the turn off the motorway and the turn at the end of the slip road are classed as two turns, so you don't get the next road information until *after* you have exited the motorway and are on the slip road.

So much for navigator allowing you to see in advance where you are going, you just have to take a guess as to where it will be taking you next.

2. Unnamed roads. This has definitely changed from TomTom3, if your next turn was into an unnamed road while you are currently on an unnamed road it would say exactly that "Unnamed Road", however this has changed in TomTom5 and it now displays the next *named* road you are turning into, this can be very confusing as there is no way of knowing if the name of the road is after your next turn or several turns along the way. I spent a long time driving around back roads thinking my next turn was onto the A12, when in fact that was about 5 or 6 turns down the line.

My suggestion would be to change this to use the standard way of representing "this road takes you to this road" and put the road name/number in brackets.

On motorways my Tom Tom displays the junction number for the next turn. Since this is always on the signs (at least in UK) that does me fine.

Different people look for different things. I, (for instance) have never looked at the PDA for the name of the next road. If I am on the motorway TT5 tells me to take the exit and once on the slip road a quick glance at the screen shows whether I will be turning Right, Left or going strait on at the roundabout. Therefore I will be in the correct lane as I approach the roundabout and Jane will see as I take the correct exit at the roundabout. I cant think of anything better.

With regards to point 1:

I never had a problem with that either. I use the 3D map display which is zoomed out a bit so I can see from a quick glance at the screen where my next turn (after the slip road) would be.
