Hi there,

I think i've broken (as I no longer get a charging light) my fortuna clip on by accidentally plugging in my Road Angel power lead. Reckon this has thrown 12v staright into it. Is it repairable ?? Any idea where if so ??

Cheers

Andy

Over here is the US we have an electronics component store called "Fry's". How appropriate is that...

I've got a similar problem - electrical fault in the car blew the fuse in the radio and unfortunately I had the Slim plugged in on charge at the same time.

Symptoms are the same - the Slim will run on battery, but the battery will not charge from the 5v supply, nor will the Slim run from the 12v supply.

Fortuna tech support were crap - they said that their only contact wth customers was via resellers, who were also responsible for repairs and servicing... When I asked if they had any European resellers that did repairs or servicing they said that I should contact my dealer. Excellent, I'm sure Expansys or whoever I bought it from on the internet are really interested! I know it's not their fault it's broken, but I would have at least expected them to know if any of their resellers did do after-sales repairs!

So anyone got any ideas about which component needs replacing? Or had and solved this problem before?

Otherwise the other option I guess is to hard wire a 3v connection from the car to the battery terminals of the slim for in car use, and then buy another gps device for walking.......

Regards
Chris
