TOMTOM ONE Brighter screen?

My flatmate just got a TTONE and the screen is noticeably brighter than my GO300. Should this be the case?

Yes the brighter screen of the One was noticed by several reviews and user reports. Not sure if it has a stronger backlight or just a more effective anti-glare coating. Either way I find the screen highly legible even under very bright outdoor lighting (don't think I've had chance to see it under direct strong sunlight).

To save battery I can turn the brightness quite a long way down and screen still looks escellent.

I remember one poster saying he was taking his back as it was too bright even using night colours!
