|
|
I've just updated the firmware in my TomTom Classic to v5.201. Windows XP now doesn't recognise the TomTom. When I connect it Windows responds with the message "USB device malfunctioned device not recognised"
I would appreciate any advice. |

Do you switch the GO on after you've connected via the USB?
Have you tried reading the card in a Card Reader?
Does the GO reboot OK if you just pull out the USB cable?
Last question, have you tried re-booting the PC? _________________ Richard

Funny, mine did exactly this on a friends machine, since I prefer the much better Win98se. Sadley TomTom is very unreliable on the win98se system even with the win98 usb drivers installed. If anyone has an answer to this one it would be appreciated. |

Thanks for the reply.
I only ever swich it on after connecting and I did try a reboot.
It did resolve itself after I reset the TomTom though. |

With the update, the device might change, do a scan for new hardware |

I'm Running version 5 on my classic, please can someone advice me on which, if any update i need. The most recent one seems to only offer things which will benefit the newer models.
Would v5.201 offer me anything worth having? If so, where can I get it from, done some searching but come up with nothing so far.. :D Thanks for any advice. |

The latest update is 5.42 which has taken the number of added POI's back up to 39.
I use 5.202 so that I can use POICapture, to help in maintaining the Safety Camera Database.
If you need/want 5.201 you can download it from -

Thanks very much
Does 5.42 offer a TTGO Classic anything over the 5.202? If not then I guess I may as well go for the 5.202 so I can use applications - is that right?
If its the 5.202 I go for, whats extra in this over my current version 5.00? Is it just the ability to run applications? |
