i am able to use tomtom after a reboot providing i let tomtom do the pairing, and delete the speed camera database of the memory card then it works 100% just cannot install the pocket gps files. great use that is if you know more or less where your going. |

Route 66 Mobile is suffering the same fault. Using a vodafone N70 and a royaltek gps. At random intervals the program says it has lost the gconnection to the reciever and ask to reconnect. Reconnection fails. The phone still shows a bluetooth connection, sometimes can reset by turning bluetooth off and on, but more often than not its a full phone reset. Will try the fix of letting Mobile 7 do the pairing and post results. |

I originally posted my woes about this problem back in November. Like many other people with the "no GPS device" problem I have now fixed it by switching off POIs.
My first guess that it was a Bluetooth issue was wrong. Its apparently the N70 and graphics (shame on you - Nokia!). I have disabled POIs and switched off 3D mode (I don't know how much that helps, but I have found that 2D mode is actually easier to work with). Since doing this it has not dropped the connection once. I have been testing it now for about 4 weeks and the performance has been superb on foot and in the car.
About 50% of the time I find it says "no GPS device" on startup, so I have to re-boot the phone, but it has never dropped a connection whilst running. I think that has something to do with the order in which TT is closed and whether the GPS (BT338) was turned off at the time.
So I don't have POI's? big deal, I'm not too bothered about where my nearest burgerking/ikea/argos is. I guess the speed cam database would be useful, but I'm not one for speeding either. |

Sorry to have taken so long to pick up this thread. I have just get a response from TomTom regarding the issues:
TomTom wrote: | We believe that the problems described in this thread are caused by an issue with the older version of the Nokia firmware (related to Bluetooth connectivity). We have tested and approved the N70 with firmware version 3.0546.2.3 – for these customers upgrading to this firmware should resolve all issues. Users can have their firmware updated for free at Nokia service points. |

Seca
Press *#0000# and it will come up on your screen
I've done that and found I have the old V.2............
Does anyone know where you can get the N70 updated to the new firmware near Wolverhampton, I have found a place in Wolverhampton that charges £20 even though it supposed to be done for free if you are a Club Nokia member, I have called Nokia and spoken to a woman (no offense, but they should have put me through to a block of wood) she hadn't got the foggiest what I was talking about, I have called Vodafone (who I'm with) and they told me to go on the Tom Tom website, to which I told him he was an ass that knew nothing at all and that I have a phone less than a week old running on firmware installed in October last year, and I want it sorted out now. So if anyone can help I would be gratelful |

They'll give you your nearest service center (DON'T USE CARPHHONE WAREHOUSE). I've had a lot less problems since the upgrade. It's not perfect, but a lot better. |
Why shouldn't I use Carphone Warehouse to get firmware upgraded on my N70 phone????? I rang Nokia and they say Carphone Warehouse have Nokia Technicians at there service centre stores!!! |

You can plan routes (i=using A-B advanced planning) you just need to give it a start and end location. |
