TT ONE or TTGO 500?

Hi all,

First post so please forgive if poor!!
About to purchase a 500 but then saw details of ONE....which on would you reccommend to buy. My requirements are:-

1) Constant GPS signal - no losing signal
2) Able to use speedcam database with voive POI warners.
3) Good sound due to lots of mway driving.

Clearly there is ahuge price differential but is the money worth paying for the 500 as it has ASN or does the new chip in the ONE beat this??

Which one guys......advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks Lutz, will I be able to download Speed cam database and also install voice alerts onto the ONE?

The ONE is more directly comparable to the 300 as it does not have Bluetooth handsfree (the 500 has this facility).

The downsides of the ONE are a smaller speaker, 2hr battery (GO's have 5hr) and no docking cradle so power leads needs to be plugged in manually each time.

Personally I'd get the ONE, the SiRFStarIII chipset is well worth having.

In all other respects the ONE has the same software, and can utilise our camera database.

I've been using TT ONE alongside my Classic for the last two weeks (in London) and I wouldn't say that there is a massive difference in terms of everyday user experience between the two. ONE certainly has a better reception which might make a difference for the cars with athermic windscreens (it also gives a more stable position in the areas with tall buildings, such as Canary Warf), the recovery time (after the signal has been lost) is about the same, ONE has a slightly longer lag (after you've turned a corner it might continue for some time on your previous course).
The battery life is only two hours, so don't forget your car charger. The sound is worse than from any of the GOs.

It is quite good, but as you probably know GO's sound quality is outstanding.

I've just unpacked our review ONE, it certainly looks good. I wasn't a huge fan of the GO's bulbous case albeit that allowed room for a decent speaker. The one is very much sleeker. Testing will reveal if its performance lives up to the design over the next few weeks Smile

First observations, sound seems loud enough, might be a little less 'clean' but full volume is too loud for my car and map data is courtesy of TeleAtlas.

Just how much worse is the sound from the ONE in comparison to the 300?

Is a) the anti-glare screen and b) the new chipset worth getting the ONE instead of the 300 even if the sound is worse?

Even if the sound was considerably worse I would rate the new chipset worth having. However, whilst the sound has less impact it is not considerably quieter and still more than loud enough for most cars.
