Mio 268 updating

I've just sent off to get the "free" V2 map update for my Mio 268, but I also see that I can update the ROM.

Does anyone know if it is necessary to do this for V2 maps?

Also, what advantages are there in updating the ROM?

The ROM update is not required really for UK users - The new ROM enables TMC Traffic FM integration in certain countries - apparently not supported here in Blighty.

Version 2 maps should be okay without it. I installed the ROM in any event, quite simple really and quick to do, but if you have done any customisation you may need to repeat certain unlocking processes again.
