TOMTOM MOBILE 5, & BT GPS TMC

Has anyone out there tried to use a Blutooth TMC GPS with TomTom Mobile 5. If so did it work or is it totally incompatible.

As we are all no doubt aware TT5M gets its TMC updates via GPRS TT plus service. But I don't fancy tying up the phone via GPRS TT plus.

One device I am contemplating is a "GNS 5840 Bluetooth GPS RDS/TMC Receiver".

Aforementioned web site does say its compatible with TomTom Navigator 5, however I'm always dubious.

So, any thoughts anybody.

The GPS will be compatible , but the TMC part will be completely useless. TTM will ignore the TMC messages in the overall NMEA data stream. So you'll buying too much of a gear for what the program actually needs.
