Can someone go back to basics for me>>>>>
1. The tiny transflash card inserted into the side of the i3 - is that like a memory card in my digital camera?
2. Does it contain my POI's or the map info it works from or both?
3. People are talking about info being wiped if downlaods are interupted- is that from the tranflash card or is there other memory in the i3?
4. When you refer to buying transflash cards is that for a different set of maps ie different country? It looks like other coutries .. France? is already on my i3 / card?
Thanks in advance for all your expertise - its been a real help in sorting out the i3! |

garmin are releasing new translfash cards with map data preloaded for other countries. the uk one has france, but only a few main road in a few regions - not the full detail required to actually travel round there. 'gecko girl' bought some software (can't remember which though) and succesfully put italian maps on a new translfash card and has taken it on holiday with her. she posted back to tell us it got her from the airport to the hotel so i guess that works.

I think you'll find that the i3 as supplied only shows major roads for most of France and its only use is to show you where you where you are. You can't use it to navigate. Try entering Paris in 'where to' and it cannot be found. The same applies to the rest of mainland Europe.
However, there are exceptions, e.g. Brittany which is shown to the same level of detail as the UK and so the i3 can be used to navigate there. This is great for me as it is the only part of mainland Europe where I regularly travel in my car. I believe that Normandy may also be shown in detail but haven't checked. |

in 'view map' mode if you roll out to maximum view you will see 'squares' encompassing the areas which have street level detail.... |
