I've just gone out and brought one of these from my local Currys tonight, so far very happy with it except one thing, the middle button is sometimes sticking down when i push it in and i'm having to knock it again to get it to come back up (it's as if it's catching at the side or something when it's pushed down if you know what i mean??).

Anyone else had this or is ot just mine?, i'm just thinking it's doing it because it's new at the moment and when i have pushed it a few more times it might be ok! Rolling Eyes

I had a simillar problem with my GPS-V a few years ago, problem was I bought it mail order and didn't want to go a week without my new toy so just put up with the problem. My GPSMAP196 has a poorly fitted memory card seal and I didnt return it for the same reason.. Rolling Eyes

You probably didn't need to take it back. Mine did the same thing for the first couple of days then stopped. It was more like a break in period. When pushing down on the "roller" try to push straight down and not at an angle or the rubberized material may shift to one side causing the "stick". You can put some pressure on the rubber and" move" it back to center and it won't stick. As I said though, it is really a matter of "breaking in the roller.

You do not need to "break in a GPS" as you claim. If it does not work as expected out of the box, then take it back.

You may be right saying that yours eased up after use but this is NOT by design and should be treated as a faulty unit. Both my GPS-V and GPSMAP196 still have the issues I mentioned further up the thread and with hindsight I wish I had returned them.

Looking back now i'm glad i returned the old one, the new one is much better, even though i did manage to stress it earlier tonight, i was seeing how well it would try and reroute me if i kept taking wrong turns, well after about 5 wrong turns the unit just switched it's-self off (crashed i assume?).
