Hi folks,
Can you help as Garmin.com tell I'm the only one with this problem.
Yet I have in the space of two weeks purchased two Street pilots i3's and they both return the same problem \glitch !

Right I use my Street pilot for my job which involves entering muti postcode searches , what I have found is that after about five or six postcode seaches
I enter a new search and the unit starts to navigate off to my destination fine
but after a short distance I'm thinking well is this taking me back to where I have just come from and correct I am right the unit is looping me back to last find !! I can prove this as If I go to recent data or finds there is no memory of the post code I have just entered, so I enter the new postcode details again and same as above.

I must state that I do press the option to "Stop Navigation" after I have arrived hopefully to do just that.

Now every thing I have mentioned above is replicated in both units the first one was dreadful at least this one allows me five correct code searches.

To stop the looping back to last found postcode I have to do a major reset
ie as in three buttond pressed simultaneously to reset and all is fine only
it is not the dun thing !!

I have been using the unit for about two weeks now and to day the first time ever a menu appeared which gave me the option to :-

Stop navigating to this postcode

Navigate to new postcode

an option of putting the radio button in either which when I chose "navigate to new post code " by george it did fantastic, hoorah etc....

Now would some kind soul please explain how to get this option up again on demand so that I don't suffer the same problem of the explanation above ?

Many thanks
Pendoggett........

i think you can go to the menu and select 'stop navigating' then start a new search. either that or if you have e.g. 2 places to go put in the last one, start navigating and get the route, then add another postcode and it will ask if you want it as a via point.

other than that, i'm not really sure what you mean Confused

Hi MaFt,
Well I can only explain what the unit does and it does this:- after about five sucessful postcode searches I wish to enter a new search, so I do that and ask unit to navigate to it but instead of it taking me to the last postcode entered, it takes me back to postcode I have just arrived at.

Sounds crazy but it has done this in both units I have purchsed the guy at garmin thinks I'm nuts but I do this for a living and I know what I am talking about . He says "well mine I have here does not do that " well if thats the case and mine is brand new then send me yours and swap them .

But I know that is no option as they use them in the office not in the big wide world, I can only report what happens with two units maybee I have extremely bad luck.

But I don't think so.

So there it is Regards

Hi MaFt,

Did you get chance to replicate what I get as the norm ?

Yesterday I had my 2nd i3 exchanged for another one so now I have had three i3's so today Sunday I went out in the motor to tap in some postcodes to see if I have resolved this problem.

Wrong after three postcode entries and pressing button "stop navigation" after every arrival, I entered my forth postcode to navigate to and guess what No 3, i3 again is taking me back to my last postcode find!!!!!!

So I give up do I have some sort of special power to distort the software from doing its job, my wife was with me at the time so it happens whether
on me own or with someone.

So can anyone replicate this problem or am I the only one ?

Hope to hear from someone

Regards Pendoggett....

No your not the only one, i am a multidrop driver and i'm getting exactly the same problem, it's 4 postcodes on mine then from the 5th postcode i enter onwards it's just trying to take me back to the 4th, waste of time to be honest for my job, glad i decided not to get rid of my PPC with tomtom 5 on now. Rolling Eyes , thats the only reasn i'm at home typing this message, i've come back home to pick up the PDA!!, shame really because i really do like the look and small size of the Garmin. Sad

Looks like it might be going back. Sad

i'm sure this will be a software fault and should be fixable. have you tried contacting garmin support about it?

Hi Paul1808,

Thank goodness someone else is having the same problem as me
I knew it was an software\hardware problem but until someone else reports it
then every one thinks you are crackers Laughing Out Loud

As I said in earlier posts I have now in the space of three and half weeks gone through three i3 Street pilot's and they all do the same thing within the postcode search and yet Garmin state I am the only one to have this problem
so if you could kindly email Garmin and state what you posted here that would be the lynch pin I'm looking for to substantiate what I have stated all along Smile

Many thanks Paul and thanks for posting.

Regards
Pendoggett.....

Yes there is definately a problem with this, just tried navigating to a few local postcodes and all was fine until it came round to entering the 4th postcode, on entering the 4th postcode it just keeps taking me back to the third postcode entered.

I have just reset the unit as well (all 3 buttons pressed type reset) and have just had the i3 simulating routes sitting in the house (you can do this if you go into the options and switch the GPS off), doing it this way it will work for 3 postcodes, type the 4th postcode in and the map suddenly jumps to somewhere close(ish) to the destination and claims you have arrived at your destination even though you haven't, seems there is a bug in the software somewhere along the line!

No still the same in version 2.5, have just sent the following messge to Garmin customer support:

ps73uk wrote:
Hello, i am having a problem using postcodes on the i3, it works great until i have entered 3 postcodes, when i enter the 4th postcode it just keeps trying to navigate me back to the 3rd postcode i entered, no matter how many other postcodes i enter or try it just keeps rerouting me back to the 3rd postcode until i do a master reset then all is fine again until i enter 3 postcodes and the same problem starts all over again, i have also tried to navigate to more than 3 postcodes whilst sitting at home getting the i3 to simulate the route (by switching the gps off in the options), it works the same enter the first 3 postcodes and it will simulate navigation to them no problem, enter a 4th postcode and the map just jumps straight to any random point and tells you that you have arrived at your desination, even though it's actually no where near the destination, there are also a few other people reporting this problem on the internet here:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=151893#151893

Any help or advice you could give on this matter would be great.
Best regards
paul (ps73uk)

Just discovered something, it is only playing up if i enter the postcode and then enter the house number as 0, if i enter the postcode with the correct number for the house for example DY2 7N* and number 1 for my address it will navigate no problems, if i just enter the postcode and try and enter the house number as 0 thats when it's having the problems, tried it with my mates house as well, enter his postcode of B69 1S* and his house number of 24 it navigates from mine to his no problem, just put his postcode in and the house number as 0 and it just tries to navigate back to whatever the third postcode was that i entered earlier this evening.

Hope that makes some sense??

*last digit left out for obvious reasons! Wink
