I am thinking of buying the Garmin i3 GPS, but the display looks a little small. Has anybody who may already have one of these had a problem with the display size?

The Garmin is a brilliant system. I bought mine last week, I have been from Swansea to Great Yarmouth and it's been spot on.

The display size is fine, you can zoom in/out to get the best view for you.

The screens might look a bit small but Garmin makes good use of the screen space and they work quite well. It isn't so easy to see a complete route but the map autozooms as you drive, zooming right in when you approach a corner so you can see where you are going.

It all depends on what you budget is and how much driving you will be doing. If you will be using it every day then get something with a larger screen. If it is only for use once a week then something smaller is probably fine.

The best thing to do is have a demo of the smaller and larger systems and see which one you prefer.

The small size and weight of the unit also has the advantage of not vibrating when driving and it fits nicely into my wife's handbag.

used mine proper for a long journey today and found that i mostly relied on the voice prompts...found that i could concentrate on the road better than having to look at the screen when coming up to turns etc,,,,this for the money is an excellent produbt..

I'm trying to decide between the i3 and a C310 which just seems to be its bigger brother. The size of the display doesn't seem to be a problem but what do people think of the display at night only I saw a review of the C320 and it wasn't too complimentary?

I totally agree with Zogman. I thing the night display is an absolutely great feature as it reduces the reflection on my wind screen at night whist keeping the maps very clear. I can't understand why ASHERS has raised this issue and whether on not he (or she) had seen it at work. In any case you can easily switch this feature off on the c310 & c320 if you want to.

I've seen an i3 and a C320 working now but only on display in daylight. The review I read actually described the 320 as "way to dim" at night so just wondered what peoples 'real life' experience was like.

thanks for the comments

No problem at all. In fact the size is ideal for me as I can now be much more flexible in the positioning.

Just bought a second one for my second car, that's how impressed I am with it.

Both Garmin's (GPS-V and Quest) I have had have had very good displays with bright backlights, indeed you have to turn it down when it's really dark or it is distracting! Maybe the reviewer didnt' know how to adjust the backlight? Rolling Eyes
