I was recently bought a Geko 201 and already have a laptop PC. In January I'm being dragged off on a cruise and hoped these two bits of kit might help fill a bit of the time.
I'd like to plot the planned course before we leave, on the PC, then enter the daily positions, as derived by the Geko. I thought choice would be simple but I'm baffled.
Does anyone know whether the Mapsource Worldmap would fill the bill? The sales blurb doesn't say whether it stops at the coast or includes the seas.

Hi,
You can try out the Worldmap viewer on the Garmin website to see for yourself. I'm not quite sure what you'd expect to see in the oceans. Mapsource will certainly plot your tracks and routes, etc. anywhere on the Earth's surface (as will many other products).

Worldmap will give you an outline of the countries and major cities.
Mark waypoints at each stop on the cruise and the GPS will be able to tell you how far away you are, what speed you are doing and estimate the time of arrival.
The GPS can record a tracklog but you would have to leave it switched on all the time which is probably not feasible.
It's pretty cool to use on planes too. _________________ Gone fishing!
