I have a MIO 168 and recently got TT5.1 (was using TT3 for the 6 months)

I never lost the sat signal once with TT3 not even in the middle of London surrounded by tall buildings or when it was hammering down with rain or when it was foggy.

My limited use of TT5.1 so far has led to the loss of signal 3 or 4 times in a 40 mile trip (for extended periods) in ideal clear conditions. This is using Other Cable NMEA GPS. I have switched to TomTom Cable to see if that helps (haven't been out since)

I have an external aerial that I can use (and it looks like I will have to) but it's a pain after the faultless reception using TT3.

It seems odd that a change of software can cause such a difference in the picking up of the signal.

Ive tried both the cable settings on my Mitac Mio with TTN5 and it makes no difference...I get sporadic sudden loss of signal regardless of weather conditions, sunny or wet.

When these drop-outs occur, the map goes crazy, and I'm sometimes asked to make a U-turn! Once the signal is back again, it usually sorts itself out.

Given that TomTom will be at the forthcoming Basingstoke meet, I think we should use the opportunity to ask why this aspect of TTN5 is so flakey.

Tottaly agree that the drop out is far higher than it was in TT3.

Would love to go back as i brought and Paid for TT3 and Brought and paid for the upgrade. If im not happy with the upgrade i shoul dbe allowed to go back yes? Its my choice after all.
So why oh why can i not.
