try taking the battery out and leaving it for a few days this may reset it. other wise you may have to plead to the vendor for an exchange fugawi mainly uses nema but can use sirf have tried setting up fugawi to use sirf
the only recomended way to adjust the peramiters using SIrf demo is via the cable not via bluetooth. SIRF demo for pc is a very powerful application and should be used with caution. adjusting anyone peramiter wrongly can end up bricking the unit _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Hi,
The SiRF "power save" modes are definitely not simple operating system commands and if you've sent any of those (intentionally or accidentally) then you may have "killed" the device. They put the processor to sleep and it can be virtually impossible to tell it to wake up (because it's no longer listening for commands) even with an interface cable. It's also said that data at baud rates above 38.4k can be corrupted by BlueTooth.
In my case, I found that removing the battery for a short time (which may have reset the interface hardware) and then sending the factory reset command got it working again. Ultimately it can be "factory reset" by removing all power from the internal memory, but there is an internal button cell, so just removing the main battery is not sufficient. You can try removing it for a very long time (maybe weeks), but the following techniques have been suggested elsewhere (gpspassion, I think):
Dismantle the Holux and short-circuit the button cell for about one second. Or, put the Holux in a freezer (which may tempoararily lower the battery voltage). Needless to say, you try these at your own rsik!
Hmm, I see what you're saying about the fridge but taking this thing apart when I have an RMA number from the vendor is probably not the best thing in the world to be doing. I thought there was limited risk in using SirfDemo, I guess my only complaint is that the manual should be better worded and the unit should be shipped with the data cable, we're not all PPC users.
Thanks for the advice and help once again. Now when I get my replacement I need to find someone willing to lend me their cable to set the unit up for power save and egnos/waas. Yeah

Hi,
Haven't you learnt your lesson, the "power save" mode is very dangerous (even with a cable interface) and will degrade the navigation performance!
Also, you may be wasting your time selecting EGNOS. I've seen it reported elsewhere that although the Holux may switch into WAAS mode, its standard internal firmware is not capable of calculating the (potential) improved differential accuracy. And there is still much debate whether EGNOS (even when working) gives any practical benefit in normal use.
Before fiddling around with SiRF devices you'd do better to consult the gpspassion forum.
