Included below is a customized "tomtom.mnu" that consists of four main and four preference pages with six items per page. Individual extra downloads have been ommitted as you can access them from"Download extras". The Reset Factory Settings has been omitted too. Should you need to do that just rename tomtom.mnu and the default menu will return.

This tomtom.mnu has no arrow keys as the left/right thumb keys on a your PPC should duplicate the page forward/back command function.

The text below should be cut and pasted into an empty text file and saved as tomtom.mnu. The resulting tomtom.mnu should then be copied to \TomTom\sdkregistry\ directory in the \root of your device.

The code:

Copy the text between this line

Hi schneid
This works fine on the iPAQ2210 as well.
It doesn't have my POI Warner menu now & I'm not smart enough to figure out how to put it onto yours but thanks for your efforts ! Smile

If you already have POI Warner installed and you want its menus, then you need to add the following to your menu:

Code:
MENUITEM|TASK_SDK1|
Change to POI-Warner

Code:
MENUITEM|TASK_SDK2|
Activate POI warnings

Code:
MENUITEM|TASK_SDK3|
Deactivate POI warnings

Code:
MENUITEM|TASK_SDK4|
Record POI

I don't have POI-Warner, I'm only going by the sukX's menubuilder website. Thumbs Up

Regards,
Robert

If you don't have POI Warner installed, why do you want it on your menu?

If it's not installed, will the icons from SkuX's show up? It seems they would have to pulled from from the POI Warner application.

If POI Warner is installed, then I'm sure adding the lines above to my menu would get it running.

Although it seems you can't dial a phone from an iPaq the DIAL_POI command still displays the phone number making it a worthwhile button to have. It seems to work only if it is installed in the Main Menu pages.

I still can't get the screen to rotate 90 degrees and I don't know why I care.

Just to drive you crazy I've tweaked a little more. It's now only four Menu and three Preference pages. I found some of the buttons such as Find Alternative and View Route had other top level buttons within them. This allowed me to remove the redundant buttons.

Took it 300 miles today and it now seems pretty efficiently layed out. My goal is have the most used functions available first.

Here's my new one:

MENUBLOCK|BLOCK_MAIN|BTM_GPS_POSITION|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE1|Navigate|
MENUITEM|TASK_NAVIGATE_TO|
MENUITEM|TASK_ADD_FAVORITE|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_FIND_ALTERNATIVES|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_MAP|
MENUITEM|TASK_DELETE_ROUTE|
MENUITEM|TASK_EXIT_APP|

MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE2|Audio/Video|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_VOLUME|
MENUITEM|TASK_SWITCH_SOUND|
MENUITEM|TASK_SWITCH_2D3D|
MENUITEM|TASK_SWITCH_NIGHTVIEW|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_HIDEMAP|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PREFERENCES|

MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE3|Routes and Maps|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PLAN_ATOB|
MENUITEM|TASK_ITINERARY|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_ROUTE_INSTRUCTIONS|
MENUITEM|TASK_MANAGE_MAPS|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_GPS_STATUS|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PREFERENCES|

MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE4|Planning|
MENUITEM|TASK_SWITCH_POI|
MENUITEM|TASK_CONFIGURE_POI|
MENUITEM|TASK_CHANGE_HOME_LOCATION|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_PLANTYPE|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_TOLL|
MENUITEM|TASK_DIAL_POI|

MENUBLOCK|BLOCK_PREF|BTM_GPS_POSITION|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE5|Settings|
MENUITEM|TASK_MAINTAIN_FAVORITES|
MENUITEM|TASK_MAINTAIN_POI|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_NIGHT_COLOR_SCHEME|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_DAY_COLOR_SCHEME|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_DIST_UNITS|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_COMPASS|

MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE6|More Settings|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_KEYBOARD_SIZE|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_STATUS|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_NAME_DISPLAY|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_PROMPT|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_VOICE|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_LANGUAGE|

MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE7|Help|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_WEATHER|
MENUITEM|TASK_LEFTHANDED|
MENUITEM|TASK_SWITCH_TIPS|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_DOWNLOAD|
MENUITEM|TASK_HELP_GENERAL|
MENUITEM|TASK_ABOUT|

You don't have to use SkuX's to reorder this. You can move the lines around by cutting and pasting them. The page captions can be changed to anything you want. Just load the above text into notepad.

I guess I most pleased with getting rid of the page arrow. Totally wasted space as the left/right buttons work better.

If you have a hardware keyboard try these:

M=Menu (Enter/OK will do the same)
P=Preferences
Del=Mute/Sound On/Off
Enter=Select/OK/Enter
!=Navigate to
T=Traffic
I=Zoom In
O=Zoom Out
S=Status
S+G=GPS Status
S+R=Route
H=Turn Map On/Off
C=Toggle Day/Night Colors
Space or Context Menu=Repeat instuction/Adjust Volumn
Tab=Toggle 2D/3D

P+S = Show POI
P+H = Hide POI

Within map View:

F = Find
G = Center cursor on current position
Z = Zoom to level that shows entire route
C = From Cursor Menu

Thumbpad functions )that I guess work on all PPCs):
Left/Right=Page Back/Page Forward in menus. Some 1st letters in menus select choice.
Center=Select/Enter/OK (Menu if not in one)
Up/Down=ZoomIn/ZoomOut

Does the rotate instruction rotate by 90 degrees? I tried the skux menu builder last July and rotate 90 didn't work and no-one seemed to know how to do it. As I prefer to operate in landscape mode I abandoned the idea of a customised menu

It's ashame TT doesn't chime in and help out. We obviously just don't have the right command and it shouldn't be a state secret. Grrr!

I wonder if you could just change the Main Menu and leave out the Preference menu? Maybe you could have a tolerable compromise.

I use landscape exclusively and use custom menus - just use the old menus to get into Landscape and then load the new menus. There is no reason to ever go back fro mlanscape so it doesn't matter if the rotate function does not work. If yo uever need to for some reason (not happened to me yet) just rename the mnu file and you get the default menus (where 90 degrees does work) back.

That's why I ditched the Reset button from the custom menu. If you need it you just rename tomtom.mnu.

Yesterday I suggested you might be able to use just the custom Main Menu pages and not make entries for the Preferennce pages leaving them unchanged.

Sure enough it works. Even the up/down buttons switch to left/right. So just including these lines in tomtom.mnu will leave the OEM preferences untouched:

MENUBLOCK|BLOCK_MAIN|BTM_GPS_POSITION|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE1|Navigate|
MENUITEM|TASK_NAVIGATE_TO|
MENUITEM|TASK_ADD_FAVORITE|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_FIND_ALTERNATIVES|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_MAP|
MENUITEM|TASK_DELETE_ROUTE|
MENUITEM|TASK_EXIT_APP|

MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE2|Audio/Video|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_VOLUME|
MENUITEM|TASK_SWITCH_SOUND|
MENUITEM|TASK_SWITCH_2D3D|
MENUITEM|TASK_SWITCH_NIGHTVIEW|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_HIDEMAP|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PREFERENCES|

MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE3|Routes and Maps|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PLAN_ATOB|
MENUITEM|TASK_ITINERARY|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_ROUTE_INSTRUCTIONS|
MENUITEM|TASK_MANAGE_MAPS|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_GPS_STATUS|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PREFERENCES|

MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE4|Planning|
MENUITEM|TASK_SWITCH_POI|
MENUITEM|TASK_CONFIGURE_POI|
MENUITEM|TASK_CHANGE_HOME_LOCATION|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_PLANTYPE|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_TOLL|
MENUITEM|TASK_DIAL_POI|

Hi,

Been trying to customise mt TTN5 menus and thanks to skuX site have been able to do much of what I want.

However, the POI Warner integration doesn't work - nothing happens at all. I've checked the items in tomtom.menu and it all looks as posted here.

Any thoughts?

John

I have read almost every post on every board regarding tomtom menu changes but have yet to find anything about changing the sub menus refering to address, postcode, city centre etc.

Any ideas???
