Yes, it should measure speed ok. It won't make a very good job of displaying position, though, unless you happen to be following the route of a motorway or major road.

You should try it on a train. It follows the track quite well untill you get near a road and the spped camera warning is quite amusing as you speed through a town or village.

You should ask for permission before switching it on and never use it during take off or landing. Different airlines have different policies, but ultimately the captain has the right to permit or deny you permission to use any electrical device. A passive GPS receiver is more likely to be acceptable than a bluetooth one as most airlines do not like you to use any sort of radio transmitter. I checked the rules a few months ago as I was interested in using a bluetooth headset for in-flight entertainment and at that time the use of bluetooth was still against the rules.

Yeah only had the major routes so it just kind of drifted across a field until it crossed a motorway where it reported as being on it then off again Laughing

We were allowed Laptops etc on and at least one person had WiFi enabled as the indicator kept on saying there was Wireless Connections available so I thought a Sat Nav which only recieves signals would be ok.

Was only on for about a minute.
