I can't work out how to do a simulation in Navigon 5.1? The icon only seems to appear if you are in the middle of a route-planned trip and then, it's greyed out. How can I just do a simulation to a destination?

I used to to use Navigon 4. I purchased v5 but that was a big mistake by me. If I remember correctly you cannot do a route demo like TomTom can, by that I mean that you have to set several destinations for it to do a demo, not just a single destination.

The answer depends on whether you have a GPS signal or not when you want to do the simulation.

If you have a GPS signal, you can simulate a route by going through the selection: Navigation > select address > Show on map > Simulation

If you don't have a signal, MN5 needs you to provide a start and and point (presumably because it doesn't assume the last place it had a signal is where you are now). To get a simulation in this case, use:

Route Planning > Add route point (button with flag and "+" sign) > input the address you are starting from > Add > Add route point > input address you want to go to > Add > Calculate route (3rd button across with waypoints & calculator) > Show on map > Simulation

Not particularly user friendly! I usually forget the 'calculate route' step when I use it.

Word of warning, simulation will only work for routes up to a total of 60 miles long. Breaking the route up into multiple waypoints doesn't get around this.

Hope this helps,
Simon
