I have been using my soc CFplusII with ipaq 2210 for over a year with no problems at all. It is used daily as I drive for a living.

Then on Thursday of last week the GPS signal kept dissapearing, at first it seemed to pick it back up fairly quickly but as the day wore on the signal losses become more frequent and for longer periods. This continued on Friday and got even worse.

On Saturday I read through the forums for clues as to what was wrong and installed Winfast navigator. now I cant get a signal at all. Has the card died? I also tried it in my laptop using the driver from sysonchip and Winfast for PC - at First I got a stream of data showing but that stopped after a few minutes.

I will be lost (literally) without GPS next week, can anyone suggest what to try?

Thanks,
Paul.

After hours of trouble shooting with settings etc I have found out what the problem is. The CF card is not connecting properly because of a loose connection - The red light stays on as one would expect but no signal possible, ie the black dots on the GPS status screen stop. When firm pressure is placed on the top of the card pushing it firmly into the socket and holding - the signal re-appears and the dots start scrolling. letting go of the pressure stops the signal.

I now have to find a way of keeping the pressure on the card somehow - tie wraps possibly? not a perfect solution but will suffice until I can get hold of another receiver - any suggestions for a cheapish bluetooth replacement?

Paul.

Crying or Very sad
I have the same problem but mine has completely died. it gave exactly the same simptoms and for a while it seemed to respond to 'tweaks'. I now cannot bring it back to communicate even though the red light is on. The hunt is now on for a replacement.
I think I will go for a bluetooth as you don't have to keep plugging and unplugging which is the probable cause of the failure. Prices are dropping as well so a replacement should be a bit less than the 100+ I paid last time.
