I have recently installed Checkpoint on my dell x5 with tomtom 5.
Followed the install details but when the checkpoint prog is ran i cannot find any reference to setting it up to come on with tomtom.
Tomtom runs ok using the overlay maps , sounds are there but only when tomtom is started first . Running checkpoint first then trying to "navigate" from check point just freezes tomtom . a soft reset is then needed to start agin but tom tom wont restart. and generally needs re installing .
Unfortunately this seems a common problem with many people trying to use Checkpoint with TomTom 5. Possibly try upgrading to TN5.1 (if you haven't done so already and do a back up of your PDA beforehand) as some have found it works better following the upgrade.
I've taken Checkpoint off my PDA until a more workable version appears.
upgrading to 5.1 does stop the freezing - well some of the time. I have found that when running a route demo it will sometimes freeze and on occassion won't exit so a reset is required. Will give it a bit longer trial.
all now working fine. I read on another thread that running after starting Tom Tom worked so gave that a go. After a few moe resets it now no longer cares if it is started before or after - only dislike is the awful American voice downloaded - wonder if the lady that did the messages for the Pocket GPS camera database is available - though as they are wav files could always do auditions in the office.
One oddity is the disparity in distance quoted to the camera - quite a difference between Checkpoint and the POI warning from Tom Tom. Checkpoint seems to count down to the camera whereas Tom Tom is still counting down after I've passd. Well not a huge difference - maybe 50 yards.
Anyway - Checkpoint thumbs up.
