Hi,
Before I install the latest ROM from O2 not the iMate ROM has any one installed it yet and if so is it more stable than the factory default ROM, does it fix the TT5 and GPRS Freeze when downloading Traffic?

Cheers

Lee

Looking at the details of the new O2 rom, the radio stack hasn't changed, only the ROM. The imate version has an updated radio stack as well so I'd expect that to be the best bet.

confimed with o2 that a new rom has been released for the xda2i having just spoken to o2 data support quickly over the phone the bt stack is not change but connectio management is improved ie gprs connection bug is sloved (i hope)
try running in turbo mode with the bt so far ive had no lockups with the release rom using tt5 and that includes checking for mail and running msn messenger aswell as dowloeading traffic
if your using peronal setup then change to coperate as o2active interfires with ttn5
by lock up do you mean the screen freezes and the device totally stops working
or do you mean that you lose thay ability to connect to GPRS after making a call

Hi,
The lockup I am talking about is as follows:-

I can use TT5 and my XDA2i without the screen freezing. I can use TT5 whilst the phone is on. As soon as I try to Download Traffic updates via the GPRS connection, TT5 will freeze, however I can press any of the Hardware buttons which minimizes TT5 and I can use the XDA2i as it should be but TT5 is still running Froze in the Background and to use TT5 again I have to Reset my XDA2i.

Basically as long as I don't download Traffic via GPRS (Via Activesync Works!) then TT5 runs very well.

Cheers

I have installed the O2 update and can confirm that it hasn't fixed the TT5 and GPRS Freeze whn downloading Traffic updates.

Why don't they just sort this problem out once and for all!

Cheers

when installing the rom use corperate mode this applies to the previous rom to as o2 active has always interfiered with tomtom and thr xda 2 xda2i this should solve the freezes. using the old rom today run msn downloading mail and a bt gps and bt headset with the old rom for around 12 hours today with no lockups of tt5 at all

I can use TT5 All day too with BT GPS and other apps running. Its when I use GPRS to download Traffic that causes the lockup.

I have tried Corporate and Normal Install both don't work.

Cheers

I have posted this before - but when switching from "personal mode" to "corporate mode" DO NOT re-install any software / settings from a back up - with the only exception being Contacts i.e. phone book. If you put the phone into Corp mode and then re-install all the software from a back-up then the rubish you have tried to get rid of will be back on the machine - not all of it - but enough to wreak havok with the device - I know, as I did this with my O2XDAIIs - and what a mess, I know a "ground up" re-install is not noce but some times you have to bite the bullet - I only wish O2 would stop selling the XDA devices with this rubish loaded up without any advice when you buy - I certainly would never load the personal mode due to the instability it causes. - Mike

Have you re-installed any software onto the PDA post the hard reset? - If so did you re-install from a previous back up, or re-install from the original disks via active sync? - if you re-install from back up it puts the O2 rubish back onto the phone (see post earlier in this thread) - Mike

Hi mikealder,

I did a hard reset and let it install what it needed to ..it then prompted me if this was a personal or cooperate installation, selected cooperate and that’s all I have done…so no I haven’t installed any applications …just followed the instructions from when I did the hard reset?

So how do I go about getting rid of O2 Rubbish from my XDA IIi?

Thanks in advance
