As yet I have not upgraded from TT3 to TT5, I am basically happy with TT3 and do not in fact use very often. I realise it will not be supported in the future and the maps will not be updated (for TT3).

So all of you brave people should I upgrade.

Without a doubt.

No, TT3 is the better program.
Unfortunately it is let down by the quality of the maps.

Some features are better, some worse

Plus
The horizontal display is a great improvement
The map movement is much smoother
Nice to be able to change colour schemes and voices from a menu
If you didn't already have them, you get street level maps of Europe (a real bargain - I paid £100 for these with TT3)
More up to date maps

Minus
Some map errors where TT3 was correct
Fewer user-adjustable functions (eg speeds on different types of road)
Itinerary function doesn't work off line (but if you update to 5.1 there is a work around - see Lutz's bug list in the stickies at top of thread)
Rather more processor intensive - though no problems with my iPAQ2210
ETAs not as accurately matched to my style of driving

I have just come home from 2500 miles driving in France, and TT5 was very reliable, I believe all the routes it chose were optimal. Very effective in large towns. It also picked a good detour when I got stuck in a jam on the motorway around Lyon. Similarly, when I landed back in UK, the M25 was closed between 2 junctions - again it picked a good detour through Slough

Have to say a reluctant yes. If you don't and get the next version, you'll have to pay full wack rather than a reduced rate, think this statement is correct?

tt5 is a good deal considering the European countries included.

I've yet to experience the poor map detail in tt3, as it's always go me to my destination - itinerary & postcodes work better not to mention the use of your pda buttons, the gps driver appears to work better as well, harder to quantify.

Am still bemused by the tt5 gps display, seems better suited to an audio VU Led Meter.

For all it's faults tt3 still has the edge for me because of all the add-on’s & functionality lacking in tt5, so mostly I have this loaded & switch over when walking or cycling to tt5.

See my experiences posted in the "5 maps working on 3" thread!

5 still has too many routing errors and appears to lack concentration.
