Un-zip the files (Two from memory?).
Place them in the Great_Britain Map directory...that should do it.
Then go to Change Preferences>ManagePOI>Enable POIs and tick the WiFi box.
Job Done. |

Open the .zip .. there's a textfile in there that tells you to copy the files to your map dir on your PDA. Then simply enable them in your SatNav application.
Really is as easy as that _________________ --

In the case of TTN5 you put the .ov2 and .bmp files in the Map Folder. _________________ Richard

I to don't like the two mobiles and a PDA so the XDA is just great one device replaces three, I operate it using a twin sim card carrier - you have to physically cut up the sim cards to fit but once done and fitted the phone has two numbers - great bit of kit for less than three quid from e-bay - cheers - Mike |
Mike which ebay buyer did you use. I'm after a twin sim card carrier for a Orange SPV M2000 (Qtek 9090 same thing) - Cheers - Bob |

How long before this will be sold on eBay? |
Well it was not long at all. Congratulations go out to ebayer maxthatuk for this ebay listing which I believe is the first to offer the stolen POI set. I have only posted these to this site, and I have not been asked by anyone if they can sell them! _________________ Mike Barrett |

How about a true "open Zone" POI - I am prepared to create one - but I mean a true OPEN in that non restricted, in the true sense i.e no cost to the user - they do exist, am I the only person with an unrestricted WI-FI point ,- I think not (and at 8mb/S I don't notice extra traffic) the whole PC network at home is firewalled off, if enough people can cover the country with free access via their internet connection then BT and the others would have no option but to lower their stupidly high price. My local pub has one as do a few other beer calls in Blackpool / Newbury that I know of.
I need info from all users to compile it as I can't drive around "looking" the aim is to cover the country with true free access points.
Any thoughts as the open zone where you pay is not in my opinion "open"

exfive wrote: | Not a GPS issue, but why are hotzones in this country so expensive? In the US and many European countries it's free in most (if not all) restaurants, bars and cafes (Strabucks etc.) and quite cheap elsewhere. Why do we end up having to pay so much for everything?
|
Unfortunately for us in the USA, major chains like Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, McDonalds, etc, charge around $8-$10 for a single day's use (usuually T-Mobile is the provider). The independent coffee houses, some smaller airports, public libraries, and even some small towns, offer free wifi as an inducement to forsake the chains. Those are the places we go, but they aren't as easy to find as the major chains, of course.
It is getting easier to find cheap or free access, however, and some hotel chains that offer free wifi to their guests don't seem to mind that it leaks out onto the street where someone parked in a motorhome might use it to get his email. Those are the hotels we stay at when we aren't in the motorhome. |

OK, I THOUGHT I was "OK" with PC's....but how do I make my (small 512K, but hoping to upgrade to 2m soon) "open", yet remain behind the firewall??.
I live in the Ar5e-end of no-where, so woudlnt expect much "passing trade".....in fact any car parked on the road gets noticed, and there's no where anyone can sit in the dry round me!

Use a firewall equipped switch router with WI-FI on board, once configured you can use the internet, others can use the same connection via the WI-FI but cannot see your PC or do anything to it. When the PC is turned off the router and cable modem stay powered so the internet is avail to whom ever (Kids PC's upstairs, next door and the PDA for example).
As a second note wrt speed I haven't noticed much noticable speed increase once you start to go past 1MB/s the problem is the other end - they can't uplink the info fast enough. Mike |

Yes, the wep secutity is only to stop others from using your connection, I don't notice any speed hit when the kids etc are using the net - Mike |
