Hi Im hoping someone can help me Ive just upgraded from (a fully working with no problems) version of Tom Tom Navigator 3 to Navigator 5 which now refuses to work.

I have an HP iPaq 2210 and Holux CF GM-270, the whole thing worked the first night it was installed (Monday) but ever since Tom Tom says (no GPS signal) when I run the GPS Viewer SW that came with the CF Card it appears to be working however within tom tom it just doesnt get a fix on the signal.... Ive configured the receiver repeatedly but still get no valid GPS signal.

Could it be possible that TT5 has been released before all the bugs have been ironed out...surely not? 8O

Im about to uninstall and re-install the software in the hope that it will work again... unless someone can help me before I throw the whole lot out the window...

Thanks in advance

Hi,

You're not alone. TT5 has major issues with my CF GPS. It works like a dream in TT3 but I get the same issues as you in TT5.

It takes ages to get a fix then loses the signal very easily. It's like installing TT5 also installs a lead box around your GPS as well Sad - Installing the external aerial helps but doesn't fix it. This isn't an option for me as I use it one a motorbike and don't want extra cables.

Reading the the forums, there are lots of people with this issue, not just with CF cards. I think it has something to do with it maxing out the PDA's CPU. My X50v gets very hot when running TT5 an I wonder if the CPU doesn't have the power to also service the CF card as frequently.

To date I've not had a response from TT. I've gone back to TT3 as TT5 is unusable for me.

A point to note, I also have a wired HAICOM GPS and this works flawlessly on the same PDA with TT5. It's something to do with CF. I know the card works fine as a different GPS utils locks on and keeps the lock very quickly.

Steve
